I build embedded hardware and the infrastructure it runs on.
I'm Ricky Kashyap, a DevOps Engineer at Creativlok and a computer science student at Gauhati University. I write firmware for ESP32 and RP2040, then deploy, monitor, and automate everything around it, from the soldering iron to the production pipeline.

01 — About
I'm a computer science student at Gauhati University and a DevOps engineer at VrixaaLabs. My projects start at the workbench with a microcontroller, a soldering iron, and a bad idea. They end up deployed, monitored, and version-controlled.
Right now I'm building CI/CD pipelines at work, leading hackathons on the side, and running a small datacenter's worth of self-hosted services out of my room in Guwahati.
Firmware in C and C++ on ESP32 and RP2040: BLE keyboards, HID devices, field sensors, and security keys. Bare metal, no OS, every byte accounted for.
Docker, Proxmox, pfSense, Cloudflare, and Grafana. These run the dashboards my devices report to, all self-hosted, tunneled, and redeployed on every git push.
02 — Experience
Internships and leadership roles across infrastructure, product, and events. Newest first.

03 — Projects
Firmware, field hardware, and production deployments, from a $4 microcontroller to a live storefront.
Crowd-sourced road-hazard intelligence for Indian cities.
ESP32 nodes on vehicles and a Kotlin Android app report potholes and speed breakers into a live Mapbox heatmap, processed at the edge on Cloudflare.
Hardware · Firmware
A handwired wireless split mechanical keyboard built from scratch. ESP32 BLE HID firmware with deep-sleep power management, an 18650 battery with TP4056 charging, and a 3D-printed case. No PCB.
Hardware · Wi-Fi
Turns a Raspberry Pi Pico into a browser-controlled keyboard, mouse, and macro device over local Wi-Fi. Any device on the network can send input to any machine, with no software to install.
IoT · Agriculture
A sensor node under ₹2000 that measures environmental and soil data for agriculture. Low-cost field telemetry built to make precision farming accessible.
Hardware · Security
A hardware security key built on the Raspberry Pi Pico, turning a $4 microcontroller into a CCID smart-card device with pico-keys-sdk.
Web · Privacy
A peer-to-peer, privacy-first, account-free platform for sharing campus notes and past papers. Notes move between peers, not through someone else's server.
Client · Internal tool
A private internal platform deployed for the Guwahati water department, which the team uses as a pin board and internal messaging tool. I handled deployment, hosting, and access setup.
Client · E-commerce
An e-commerce storefront I took to production end to end: hosting provisioning, domain and DNS configuration, SSL certificates, the production build and go-live, plus post-launch updates.
04 — Skills
What I reach for, from the first line of firmware to the last deploy.
Microcontrollers, buses, and HID
Scripting, tooling, and the web
Edges, tunnels, and firewalls
Containers, pipelines, and monitoring
05 — Homelab
Everything I build gets deployed on infrastructure I run myself. Push to git and the lab redeploys itself, with the same pipeline discipline as production at homelab scale.
06 — Contact
I'm open to internships, freelance hardware or infrastructure work, and interesting problems that involve a soldering iron, a terminal, or both. Email is the fastest way to reach me.
